Coach Eric Johnson

Eric B. Johnson is currently the 15U Red team head coach and a member of the Utah Pump-N-Run board of advisors. Working as a player development coach since 2004, Mr. Johnson has coached in hundreds of games in locations all over the country and has an intimate understanding of the game of basketball, including the athlete recruiting process. Before becoming a player development coach, Mr. Johnson played college basketball at Westminster College in Salt Lake City where he earned Academic All-Conference honors two consecutive years.

In addition to his duties with Utah Pump-N-Run, Mr. Johnson oversees a portfolio of corporate clients as a strategic marketing consultant specializing in community development through events and sponsorships, fundraising and communications. Prior to becoming a full-time consultant, Mr. Johnson was the Director of Marketing and Corporate Business Development for The Sorenson Group where he oversaw all marketing and communications and strategic partnerships that created long-term return on investment (ROI) opportunity for the company. Preceding his position at The Sorenson Group, Mr. Johnson was the Director of Marketing at Sorenson Communications, the nations leading relay services provider for the deaf and hard-of-hearing community. There, he helped lead the development of a national outreach program that was directly responsible for over 20% of the company’s qualified revenue source.

Mr. Johnson has extensive large-scale event planning and business development experience with organizations such as the 16th Winter Olympics for the Deaf, where he served as a chief liaison between the Games Organizing Committee and multiple event sponsors including AT&T, Avis and AOL. In addition, he oversaw event operations for the first-ever United States Senate and House of Representatives Video Relay Service (VRS) demonstration in Washington, D.C., an event that featured celebrity actress Marlee Matlin and several United States Senators and Congressman.

Supplementing his current position as a marketing consultant, Mr. Johnson serves as an executive committee member in charge of community development and charity fundraising for the Champions Challenge hosted by Johnny Miller, a PGA sanctioned golf tournament held annually at Thanksgiving Point Golf Club outside of Salt Lake City. He is also the Co-Owner and Managing Director of EveryDayGrief, LLC, a seminar company that offers Helping Professionals from the western United States new and innovative training.

Mr. Johnson holds a B.S. in Business from Westminster College in Salt Lake City.
