17U RED ELITE Looks to Build on Team, Individual Success From Last Week’s Best Buy Summer Classic. Other Utah Pump-N-Run Teams Preparing for Tournaments Starting This Week. Utah Pump-N-Run 17U RED ELITE will look to build on last week’s team and individual success as they prepare for the adidas Super 64 in Las Vegas and the Best of Summer in Anaheim. Holding a number eight ranking in the West, the team has several key wins over teams that featured top prospects from all over the country. After a quarterfinal run in the platinum bracket at last weeks Best Buy Summer Classic in Minnesota, many Utah Pump-N-Run players are gaining respect as being top prospects themselves. One of the biggest highlights from last week includes a 68-64 win over eventual tournament champion Arkansas Wings. Featuring players Ky Madden (Memphis bound), Hunter Mickelson and Aaron Ross (both committed to Arkansas), the Wings are regarded as one of the most talented programs in the country. In that game, Michael Brown (Wasatch) scored 18 points and Sam Orchard (Highland), who is playing with a broken thumb on his shooting hand, controlled the game at the point while logging 14 points. Footage of the game is available at www.webcast50.com. Brown and Orchard led the team in scoring and were both named to the Rivals.com All-Tournament Team. Eli Robison (Timpview) and Matt Sumsion (Springville) also had strong showings throughout the tournament. Here is a list of 17U players receiving recruiting interest: Austin Bankowski, Woods Cross - Dixie State, Utah Valley University, Western State for basketball - Dixie State, Oregon, UCLA, Utah for baseball The 16U RED team will open at the adidas Super 64 without Utah State signee and starting point guard Marcel Davis (American Fork), after he took an inadvertent knee to the face at last week’s adidas Three Stripes tournament in Los Angeles. The team is led in scoring by Jordan Loveridge (West Jordan), who is widely regarded as the top 2012 prospect in Utah as well as American Fork’s Quincy Bair (headed to Utah State) and Skyline’s sharp-shooting guard Jaden Jackson. Other players include Jordan Pryor (West Jordan), Isaiah Tademy (Granger) and Davis Erickson (American Fork). In addition to the 17U RED ELITE, Utah Pump-N-Run will represent the following teams: 17U WHITE, fresh off a strong showing in Indianapolis and Kentucky will compete this week as well as 16U WHITE, 14U and 13U teams. 6’2 combo guard Stephan Holm (Riverton), who is already garnering significant Division I interest, will lead 15U RED. The team has competed in Chicago, Denver, Salt Lake City and Las Vegas this season. Full team game schedules and rosters are available at www.utahpumpnrun.org/teams. |
