Utah Pump-N-Run, 04-03-2010

SALT LAKE CITY (April 4, 2010) – 17U RED ELITE, Utah Pump-N-Run’s flagship team comprised of basketball players from various high schools in Utah, completed play with a 5-2 record at the Easter Showcase in Las Vegas this past weekend. After advancing to the quarterfinals in the Platinum bracket, the team lost a heartbreaker to the Las Vegas Dogcatchers by only two points after leading by as much as 12 points in the second half. Earlier in the bracket, 17U RED beat Team Next Level 51-48 in overtime to advance to quarterfinals play. 17U RED players include Sam Orchard (Highland), Mike Brown (Wasatch), Blake Wilkinson (Viewmont), Morgan Hesleph (Juan Diego), Austin Bankowski (Woods Cross), Lew Evans (Highland), Matt Sumsion (Springville), Nate Fakahafua (Highland), Zach Stanley (Lehi) and Austin Hudson (Brighton). Jason Long and Dave Thompson coach the team.

17U RED will compete in two additional tournaments in April; the Double Pump Spring Tournament in Denver April 16-18 followed by the Double Pump Spring Classic in Las Vegas April 23-25.

Despite only having six players, the 16U Utah Pump-N-Run RED went undefeated and won the championship of the Platinum bracket at the Easter Showcase in Las Vegas, finishing play with a 6-0 record. The team played exceptionally well together throughout the tournament thanks to a well-balanced offensive attack. Team members include Jordan Loveridge (West Jordan), Marcel Davis (American Fork), Jaden Jackson (Skyline), Jordan Pryor (West Jordan), Davis Erickson (American Fork) and Quincy Bair (American Fork). Todd Phillips and Brad Blanchfield coach the team.

16U RED will look to continue their undefeated streak later this month in the Double Pump Spring Classic in Las Vegas.
